Grey Lock Statute in Battery Park, Burlington, Vermont.
Grey Lock, who was named for his premature streak of gray hair, was an Abenaki Chief famous for his lightning raids on English settlements south of the green Mountains in the 18th century. English enemies were never able to defeat him, and their heirs honored his courage and daring by naming a mountain in Massachusett's Berkshire Hills after him. (pictured at left)



Dunder Rock in Lake Champlain .
Located in the middle of the lake west of Burlington, VT, we call this island is called "the Guardian's Rock." The story is that Odzihozo, the "Man Who Made Himself," decided to stay forever after creating the lake and the nearby mountains and valleys.
Burial site in Newbury, Vermont. Honors the memory of one of many Abenaki who fought alongside the colonists in the American Revolution. A marker at Odanak, Quebec honors Abenaki who fought in World Wars I & II.



Monument Road Historical Marker and Totem Pole, Swanton, Vermont.
The monument commemorates the first church erect in Vermont around 1700 by Jesuits for a mission to serve the St. Francis Indians. The monument was dedicated by the people of Swanton in 1909.
